Clean Indoor Air Legislation

Clear the Air for a Healthy Future

Virginians For A Healthy Future (VFHF) was founded in 2002 with a mission to improve the health, education & welfare of children, families and communities by reducing the use of tobacco products in Virginia.

Several public health groups, including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Lung Association and the Campaign For Tobacco Free Kids, were the driving forces behind establishing VFHF. Since its inception, a number of other interest organizations across Virginia have joined the coalition.  To find out more log onto www.healthyva.org.

If you support the Clean Indoor Air legislation in Virginia, please print the resolution form below and mail it to (VFHF).

ü       Everyone has the right to breathe clean air, free of the 4,800 chemicals, including 69 carcinogens in secondhand smoke.

ü       Secondhand smoke (SHS) is a known cause of cancer, heart disease, lung disease, respiratory infections, and SIDS, among other health problems, and kills 53,000 Americans every year.

ü       Children, the elderly, and individuals with health conditions are especially vulnerable to secondhand smoke. Recently, experts at the CDC advised all people with heart conditions to avoid restaurants and other environments where smoking is allowed.

ü       No worker should have to breathe the poisons in secondhand smoke as a condition of employment.  Making all workplaces and public places smokefree is the cheapest, fairest, and most effective way to protect everyone from the hazards of second hand smoke.

To protect the public, including those at greatest risk – infants, children, the elderly and those living with heart and lung disease.  Let’s remove secondhand smoke from all indoor public areas NOW and  Clear the Air for a Healthy Future!
