Stopping Cough Medicine Abuse Before It Starts

A DOSE OF PREVENTION: The materials found on this website address the recent trend among young people who are taking large amounts of over-the-counter cough medicines that contain dextromethorphan (sometimes abbreviated DXM) to get high.

This information is designed to arm parents, educators, retailers, healthcare providers, law enforcement officials, and other community leaders with critical information to address the problem of cough medicine abuse.

Family Watchdog link-registered sex offenders

FAMILY WATCHDOG          www.familywatchdog.us/

Web site for locating registered sex offenders

·                                 90% of all sexual assaults against children are committed by someone whom the victim knew. *

·                                 The typical sexual predator will assault 30 - 60 times before being caught. **

·                                 The re-arrest rate for convicted child molesters is 52%. ***

·                                 We aim to reduce these percentages by ensuring that all sexual predators are known.

This service exists for one reason, and one reason only. The founders are tired of reading stories about missing 9 and 10 year old children killed by registered sex offenders, and decided to do something about it.

We invite you to use our free service to locate registered sex offenders in your area. You just enter an address, and we'll show a map. You can click on the squares that appear, and see photos (where available), addresses, and convictions.

Our notification service is very simple. You specify up to three addresses (not zip codes) that you want to watch and the distance around those addresses. We do the rest. We update our data daily from multiple public data sources. As soon as a convicted sex offender registers an address in your area, we will alert you. It's that easy.

Early Smokers More Likely to Become Heavy Smokers

Tobacco and Addiction

Teenagers who smoke may literally be reprogramming their still-developing brains to drive them to smoke even more. According to a NIDA- and NIH-funded animal study conducted by Duke University Medical Center pharmacologists, when rats were given the opportunity to self-administer nicotine, adolescent rats did so at nearly double the rate of those first exposed to nicotine as adults. This escalated response continued into the adolescent rats' adulthood. What does this mean for the long-term prospects of U.S. smokers, most of whom start as teens?
